Study In UK

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK), Great Britain (GB), or simply Britain, is a sovereign state located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. The country includes the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and many smaller islands. Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK that shares a land border with another state: the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border, the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean in the west and north, the North Sea in the east, the English Channel in the south and the Irish Sea in the west.

High Quality of Education

The quality of UK education is recognized by employers, universities and governments worldwide. The UK is a popular destination for international students, and well respected for world-class standards of teaching – five of the top ten universities in the world are in the UK (2013 QS World University Rankings). UK research is ‘world leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ – according the most recent Research Assessment Exercise in 2008, which produces quality profiles for course providers by assessing research activity against agreed quality standards.

High Quality of Life

UK has been ranked one of the best places to live in the world. This assessment was based on UK’s achievements in its high quality of education, life expectancy, excellent healthcare and general quality of life.

Great place to live

The UK is really diverse and full of different cultures – for example school children in London speak over 300 languages between them. A mix of cosmopolitan cities and rural villages, with strong transport links, exciting sporting events and both historical structures and modern architecture. You can develop a range of skills needed in today’s global workforce, including refining your English language skills with new friends and in lectures and seminars and one major advantage is its closer to your Home country Nigeria Students find United Kingdom a better option as it is closer to home. This makes it easier and cheaper to travel back home while carrying on with your education.

Value for money

Undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the UK are generally much shorter than those abroad, which helps to reduce the amount of money you will end up paying in tuition fees and living costs. Most undergraduate courses take three years to complete, although in Scotland it would be typically four years. A postgraduate Masters course will normally only take 1 year, whereas PhD will take 3 or 4 years.

Economy

The UK has a partially regulated market economy. Based on market exchange rates the UK is today the sixth-largest economy in the world and the third-largest in Europe after Germany and France. The UK service sector makes up around 73% of GDP. London is one of the three “command centers” of the global economy (alongside New York City and Tokyo), London is the world’s largest financial centre alongside New York, and has the largest city GDP in Europe. Edinburgh is also one of the largest financial centers in Europe. Tourism is very important to the British economy and, with over 27 million tourists arriving in 2004, the United Kingdom is ranked as the sixth major tourist destination in the world and London has the most international visitors of any city in the world. The creative industries accounted for 7% GVA in 2005 and grew at an average of 6% per annum between 1997 and 2005.
